Our awards and scholarship programs provide individuals with the opportunity to give back to their community, their organisation and the Australian credit union movement by participating in Cufa initiatives.
Our selection of grants and scholarships allow volunteers to give their time and energy to promote the principles of Cufa’s programs both here in Australia, or through one of our partner offices in the Asia Pacific region.
The Scholarship and Awards Cufa has on offer are targeted towards managers and directors right through to those just kick-starting their careers in the Mutual sector.
There are a number of annual Awards and Scholarship programs available both domestically and internationally, which each have specific eligibility criteria and application procedures to assist our independent committee in determining a deserving applicant.
The Steve Birt Fund was established in 1993 in memory of the contribution Steve Birt made to the Mutual movement through the Teachers Mutual Bank. Every year, a scholarship is offered to a Indigenous Australian or Torres Strait Islander staff member of a Mutual bank to participate in one of Cufa’s development education programs.
This scholarship is awarded to aid and support future emerging leaders in the Australian Mutual Movement. The Steve Birt Scholarship offers the sum of $3,500 to one to engage in Cufa’s program activities across the Asia Pacific region.
Cufa is proud to announce its newest initiative supporting customer-owned banks and their staff in Australia, The Jack Ross Memorial Trust. The Jack Ross Memorial Trust was originally established in 1982 to support and enable emerging credit union leaders in Queensland to undertake further education and training. Cufa is the new trustee of the Jack Ross Memorial Trust.
The Trust will enable staff of customer-owned banks in Australia to volunteer on financial inclusion projects run by Cufa, furthering their own professional development and making a contribution to the fight against global poverty.
