Our mission
At Cufa we envision communities of the Asia-Pacific to be free from poverty through economic development and self-determination. Our work facilitates the development of economic capacity through education, employment and enterprise opportunities. In short, we provide a hand up not a handout, imparting the skills to develop a sustainable income and break the poverty cycle.
Our impact
For every $1 of donor funding invested, $12.33 of value is created by our development programs.
In addition to this, some of our many amazing results include:
- Over 100,000 disadvantaged students taught life-altering financial skills
- More than 300 small businesses started for rural entrepreneurs
- 21 credit unions built in Cambodia to provide financial access
- Empowered countless women in Myanmar through a female-focused program

Our programs
We help communities build better lives for themselves through grassroots programs that focus on education, empowerment, entrepreneurship and financial institutions like credit unions.
Our approach
All of our field staff work are indigenous to the countries they work in and know their community intimately. This translates to our field staff having profound cultural insight and sensitivity and in turn earning the trust of the community.
We also work with the most vulnerable communities throughout the region, many of whom either live off under $2 a day or do not receive an income.
